How you can get involved

Active canvas is an art centre which strives to make art a part of everyday life for one and all. Here are many ways in which you can be a part of this endeavor:

Instructor

We offer opportunities for experienced teachers as well as first time instructors to work with us. All you need to bring are samples of your work, a resume and passion for teaching. Be it traditional art or a new art form we are open to working with individuals who are creative in their approach.

Assistant Instructor

If you are an advance level student of a particular art form and are confident of teaching beginners you can sign up to be an assistant instructor. You need to demonstrate your proficiency through samples of work, a resume and need to get a recommendation letter by an established artist / instructor.

Intern /Apprentice

If you wish to learn or get an insight into any particular art form, we offer internships that will give you hands on experience of working with an artist. You will observe and assist the instructor during sessions and will be given studio time for practice. All you need is the drive to learn something and the willingness to get your hands dirty.

Volunteer

If you are generally interested in the arts and like the idea of being involved with active canvas, you can volunteer your free time. Being a small set up with lots of activities, we are always in need of an extra pair of hands be it in assisting teachers, managing a studio, working with kids, or even administration. You just need to be inspired and come with a positive attitude.

Workshops, performances and lec dems

If you are a visiting artist and would like to hold workshops and/or give a performance or lecture while you are here, we would be happy to work with you. Please contact our centre at the earliest so we can review your work and set up the dates in advance.

As the old saying goes…nothing ventured nothing gained, we encourage you to take art to your heart and come join us in any way you can at active canvas.
