Kathak classes at active canvas

The word 'Kathak' is derived from 'katha' (story). The expression 'Katha kahe so Kathak' translates thus: "The art of telling a story (accompanied by dance & music) is Kathak". One of the most graceful classical dance forms of India, Kathak is characterized by rhythmic footwork, spectacular spins & beautiful themes representing both Hindu mythology & Islamic culture.

If you have always wanted to try it, our beginner's batch is just right for you. Prior experience in dance is not required. All you need is a desire to learn and the passion to practice.

Instructor:

Tushar Bhatt is a student of Gurus Sri Dharamshibhai Shah Bhavnagar, Gujarat; Smt. Maya Rao (World renowned dance guru based in Bangalore), Padmashree Kumudini Lakhiya (Ahmedabad), Shree Maulik Shah and Smt. Ishira Parekh (Ahmedabad). In addition, he has attended workshops conducted by Gurus Sri. Munna Shukla (nephew of Pundit Sri Birju Maharaj) and Shree Geetanjali Lal (Kathak Kendra, Delhi). Tushar has over 20 years of performing experience & enjoys teaching.

Class details:

Children: 6 to 15 years
Day : Thursday ( 5.30 p.m. – 6.30 p.m.)

Adults: Above 15 years of age
Day: Saturday (8.30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.)

No. of sessions: 12 (Students need to enrol for a minimum of 12 sessions). You may continue classes through out the year by paying for 12 classes at a time.

Classes are ongoing. You may enrol anytime during the year.

Fee Details – for 12 sessions:

• Rs. 1,800/- per person + 10.3% service tax => Rs. 1,985/-
• Registration fee (one-time) is applicable to all participants enrolling for the first time at active canvas as per the details given below:
• Children: Rs, 250/-
• Adults: Rs. 500/-
• Validity: 12 weeks from date of joining – any classes missed would not be made up. No extension of validity period would be allowed.
