Looking back, looking forward : The Art of Garm Hava

It has been 37 years since Bangalore-based filmmaker M.S.Sathyu released Garm Hava. Yet no other film has earned the same acclaim since: India's entry for the Academy Awards, nominated for the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival ; winner of both National and Filmfare awards. The artist's touch is seen in every frame of the film, imbuing it with sensitivity and humanity.

We welcome you to an exhibition of photographs, posters, research material that will give viewers a taste of the effort and process of making the film. Mr. Sathyu will reflect on the various elements in the film and talk about the composition of the film as a whole. He will also reflect on the political setting in 1973, the film's reception and his future plans. Garm Hawa will also be screened at active canvas.

Art Camp with Senior artists from Chennai & Bangalore.

active canvas has invited senior artists from the two cities to demonstrate their work to viewers. Visitors can informally interact with the artists, watch the artists at work and observe the unique processes and techniques employed by these artists as they go about creating art.

For aspiring artists, this event would be an opportunity to soak in ideas and get inspiration to create original art.
