Introduction to Art:

active canvas is happy to announce 'Introduction to Art' - a three-month Practical Beginner’s Course in Drawing & Painting. This course is meant for beginners to develop a strong foundation in Visual Art.

This course is meant to give beginners a strong foundation in Visual Art. Students are introduced to the basics of sketching, drawing and painting in various media. The course also includes technique training and theory discussions aided by practical work.

Students will study important concepts such as color & composition, tonal values, perspective, negative spacing, anatomy study and much more. Technique study would include topics such as texturing, measuring, using viewfinders, under painting etc. Students will also be guided towards developing their own personal style of painting.

Overall, the course is meant to break down inhibitions, dispel myths and make the student a confident artist. During the course, the students will learn the following media:

Drawing media like :

• Pastel
• Pencil
• Charcoal
• Crayon

Painting Media Like:

• Oil
• Acrylic
• Enamel
• Water Colours
• Poster colour
• Mixed media
• Gouache

Students will learn to work on the following subjects:

• Anatomy drawing
• Life study
• Portraiture
• Still life
• Landscape
• Creative painting
  

Additionally students will also be taught Mural Art & Collage

This course is suitable for the following people:

1. Art students who need more practical training
2. Beginners who would like to embark on an artistic journey
3. Serious hobbyists who need to sharpen their existing skills

Take-away

On completion of the course, students are expected to have completed at least 8 paintings in various mediums.

Days: Everyday - Tuesday to Friday

Validity: 48 classes of 3 hours duration each to be completed in 3 months. Classes HAVE to be completed within the validity period – classes missed by students will not be made up.

Fee details:
Students can either pay the fee at once or in installments:

One time Payment Option:
Rs. 25,000/- + 10.3% service tax.

Installment Option 1:
Installment 1: Rs.18,000/- + 10.3% service tax before commencement of course
Installment 2: Rs.9,000/- + 10.3% service tax – within one month from commencement of course

Installment Option 2:
Installment 1: Rs.16,000/- + 10.3% service tax before commencement of course
Installment 2: Rs.8,000/- + 10.3% service tax – within one month from commencement of course
Installment 3: Rs.4,000/- + 10.3% service tax within two months from commencement of course

NO refund would be made in case a student discontinues in the middle of the course.

The above fee is exclusive of material cost.

Students are required to purchase their material kit. Students can either place an order for art materials at active canvas or procure their own material.
